WARNING! This interview may be inappropriate to people under 18 :)

Hello everyone! Once again I'd like to wish everyone a happy Mothers Day.
I have with me today, yes you guest it. Laura Stamps.

Laura Stamps is an award-winning erotica and paranormal romancenovelist, whose daily blog is wickedly naughty. Her work has been published inover a thousand magazines, literary journals, and anthologies worldwide. Therecipient of a Pulitzer Prize nomination and seven Pushcart Awardnominations, she is the author of more than forty-five books. A Wiccan FaeryWitch, Empath, and Psychic, Laura enjoys writing novels about contemporaryPagans living in the Deep South. Because she portrays Pagans realistically, hernovels are full of real spells, chants, and rituals. You'll also find romance andHOT sex in her books. Why? Because she's totally oversexed and loves it!Currently, Laura is a newlywed and lives in Columbia, South Carolina, with her yummy husband Wes (oh, how she loves his long blonde hair! *lustygrin*) in an antebellum-style house. Beyond her backyard lies a state forest, which just happens to be full of faeries.

Heres my review for Laura's A Vampire's Kiss

Interview:
1.) Hey Laura! Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for inviting me! I always love an opportunity to get wild and crazy. Okay, so I'm a party girl. Duh. *slutty grin*

2.) Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your books?

I'm a kinky, oversexed slut who writes paranormal erotica and romance novels. I've been a fulltime author for 23 years. I started out as an artist, and then switched careers when I was 30. Which makes me 53 at the moment. Did I mention I'm also a kinky exhibitionist? I thought I should, just in case some of your readers discover all the lingerie pics on my blog and my "Laura Stamps" Facebook Fan pages. *kinky grin* So I'm kinda like one of the heroines in an erotica novel (sex-obsessed). However my novels are also empowering. I encourage women celebrate themselves, their bods, and their sexuality at any age. I encourage them to become selfish and create the life they desire. Life is short. Do what makes you happy and do it NOW! I also like to dispel the myth that your sex drive dies as you get older. Not!

Because I am a Wiccan Faery Witch (a SexWitch), an empath, and a psychic all my novels are paranormal. But with a twist. Most of the paranormal stuff in my novels is real. If you're not Pagan this would seem like fantasy. But Pagans know it's the real deal. So all the spells, chants, and rituals in my novels are real. I write four series. The Witchery Series goes from empowering to romantic to erotic. The other three series are erotica (The Rune Witch Series, The Manigault Vampires, The Faery Witch Series). All of these series are trilogies except the vamp series. There will also be a series of my memoirs (from my naughty blog) coming out later this year.

3.) When did you first decide you wanted to be an author?

I went to college and majored in Fine Art to become a painter. And that is what I was until I turned 30. I had always been told I had writing talent when I was in high school, but I am also mildly dyslexic, and it was just too hard. Painting was easier. Then I wrote a poem when I was 30, and I was hooked! I always say that's the day my art career ended, even though my art prints are still sold by my fine art publisher in California (Haddad's Fine Arts, Inc.).

So at 30, I began the long process of teaching myself how to become a good writer. BTW, I don't think you ever stop learning how to improve your craft. In the process, I have won many prestigious writing awards, my stories and poems have been published in over 1000 magazines worldwide, and I have been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and seven Pushcart Awards. Oh, and I've published over 45 books. Plus, 6 new books coming out this year, as well as the monthly installments of my serial novel, A Vampire's Kiss: Book One of the Manigault Vampires.

4.) When your books came out, did you expect them to be as popular as they are.

You never know about this kind of thing. What has surprised me the most is how some people have become Pagan after reading my The Witchery Series trilogy. Let me tell you right now Pagans are NOT evangelical. I wrote that series to let people know what contemporary Pagans are really like. That's all. Wicca/Witchcraft is basically a peaceful feminist nature religion. We've just had a LOT of bad press for the last 2000+ years. So I wanted to set the record straight. The crazy thing is people will come up to me at booksignings and tell me this is what they always felt in their hearts religion and spirituality should be like. Well, it was, and it still is.

But as far as novels becoming popular, I just do my own thing and don't worry about it. I am what I am: an oversexed Witch who loves to write sexy romantic books. Did I mention I like sex? A LOT. Oh, I did. *lol* Anyway, If people like me, cool. If they don't, cool. I am what I am, and I'm happy with it. I also stay very close to my readers, networking with them every day, answering almost 8 hours of fan mail every day. By staying close to them I know what they want in a novel, and I make sure I give it to them. I'm serious about very few things in life, but I am serious about how much I adore my readers and fans and love networking with them.

For example, I have only been on Twitter for 4 months (LOVE Twitter...okay, I'm a text-messaging junkie). But I'm very picky about who I follow, and who I allow to follow me. If someone is not a personal friend or if she/he doesn't read romance/erotica/vamp novels I block them if they try to follow me. Okay, lots of authors follow me too. I have no idea WHY, but I don't block them either. Anyway, I only have 24 hours in each day. And I want to spend most of that time networking with my readers/fans and writing more hot sexy books. I will never be one of those authors with a million followers on Twitter, and many of those followers end up being spammers. Not gonna happen! lmao

5.) I understand you are Pagan, so I have a feeling where your witches stories came from, but what inspired you to write a vampire novel?

I have always wanted to write a vampire series. Vampires are sex-on-a stick! Duh. I don't care of vampires are hot or not or the current trend or whatever. My readers/fans love sexy vamps and so do I. All I had to figure out was how this was gonna happen. Then one day my character Wynn mentioned his boss was Drayton Manigault. And Dray is a vampire. Eureka! Can you tell all my novels are character-driven? Oh, yeah. They rule. I just run around behind them all night long and write down what they say. Damn, I had such a blast creating the vampire world in Columbia, too!

Other than that, I keep vampire hours, working until 4:00am, getting up at noon, and starting all over again. So you could say vampires who love lots of sex are a natural for me. Kinda. Close enough, right? lol

6.) I love the name of your hero Dray. Where did it come from?

All my novels take place in Columbia, South Carolina. So I use names that are common to this state, both contemporary names and historical names. Drayton Hall is a famous plantation mansion in the Charleston area. I actually, didn't know about Drayton Hall until I did some modeling for the local newspaper, and we shot those fashion pics in front of Drayton Hall. The Manigaults are one of the oldest families in Charleston. They originally came from France and were French Huguenots. So that's where Dray's name came from since he is originally from Charleston. You could say he has a very Charlestonian name. ;)

7.) Where can we find you on the web?

Gotta love an informative sig, ya know? lmao!

Great to meet you! If you liked this interview, check out my others at the vamp site (http://www.avampskiss.blogspot.com). There is a button just for Interviews. I tend to get a little slutty with most of them. Hey, not my fault! lmao!!

Being an artist, you can understand when I say this about my career change. Creative people are usually born with several talents. But not all talents satisfy your creativity 100%. I always won awards for my paintings and some hang in museums. But I was never completely satisfied creatively. You know what I mean? I thought I was painting the wrong stuff, so I would change but that never quite worked. I painted florals, portraits, primitive scenes, etc. But when I wrote that first poem...BANG!...I was completely satisfied creatively for the first time in my life. No way I could go back to painting after that. Later I realized I was painting stories. Now I paint with words. My readers remark how well-built my characters are and how they can feel and taste what they taste. I think that is the painter in me coming out in my novels. BTW, The Witchery Series novels have my paintings on the covers. ;)

And I just remembered one of the Witches in "The Witches of Dixie" is an artist and there is a lot in there about her art career and what it feels like to be an artist (the "Mirabella" section).

Ya I totally get what you mean. I tend to pour a lot of my creative energy into my blog and I tend to draw characters of other novels or stories I write. Lolz. I like that. Painting with words. Which is so completely true. XD

And guess what covers I'm going to go look up right this second? Lmfao.

Cool! The cover of "The Witches of Dixie" is one of my abstracts cause Mirabella is an abstract artist. The covers of the other two novels are a collage of elements from the story. So when you read those novels you can look at the covers and point to every image and know exactly what part of the story it came from. ;)

You can find links to them here ("The Witchery Series" button" on the button bar)

I like your covers! That's so cool that you actually got to use your artwork for your books! They all acrylic?

oh and I read the first chapter of Vampire Kisses last night! Lol! Damn Dray sounds like a sexy beast. I'm a little iffy on the super long hair, but he sounds delicious. XD

Wow! That interview was definitely a look into the author's brain! loooove it! I gotta say, I don't think I could survive without my caffeine. I need my fix- be it cofee, soda, chocolate, or caffeinated body wash (awesomest. birthday prezzie. ever.) It's awesome to hear about how authors get their start- some of the stories are so funny and accidental that it gives hope to aspiring authors that the same thing could happen to them. ^_^
